Building Community Connections

Here at St Mary’s Preschool we like to get out and about in the community. We like to take the children on small group excursions to various places. We have made gifts for some of our more elderly residents and taken them to some of the nursing homes close by. We have also spent time with the residents talking and colouring in which we all enjoy. We do a lot of cooking here at preschool and sometimes this calls for ingredients we don't have on hand. This then calls for a walk to Coles for groceries and sometimes Kays for meat. While this is all planned in advance and programmed for a variety of reasons excursion day is always so exciting. We have been to the Capitol Theatre to see both the Gruffalo and the Gruffalos child. These are children’s stories we love here at preschool written by Julia Donaldson. A trip to the Men's shed, the miniature trains and Long Gully Café are in the process this year. We are excited to be learning new things at these places.
